This project included restoration of the existing facade to the street and landscaping work to the rear yard including an elevated concrete pool. The facade has been stripped back to the original sandstock brickwork and new deep set timber windows and doors added to original openings. Recycled hardwood posts and beam frame the existing verandah and provide a contemporary balance to the inner city street.
The rear courtyard includes recycled railway sleeper fencing, seating and steps, a landscaped garden, an entertaining deck with BBQ and wet bar and an elevated concrete pool. A new fence to the rear of the site opens directly onto a popular inner Newtown park, and this can provide direct access to the park via a door and series of shutters to the pool enclosure when desired.
