A small project involving the construction of a new fence and front garden to an existing semi detached house in Clovelly. The project explores the threshold between public and private space and encourages active interaction. The fence incorporates off form concrete as a sculptural object, with faceted end pillars and incorporates a salvaged sandstone capping block. A series of horizontal timber battens are stretched between the pillars and integrated into the concrete form. A steel pond lines the end of the path to the front door and a timber bench seat hovers over the garden bed to a slatted timber screen concealing bin storage. A series of reliefs have been set into the concrete form including a plan diagram of Clovelly bay, a Groper and a drawing of the owners Labrador drawn by the owners daughter.
More substantial alterations to the house are currently under construction.
